Guam

Guam Amateur Baseball Association is a community minded organization, building lasting relationships with residents and visitors of Guam through baseball and softball. GABA plays under a common set of rules designed to organize baseball and softball players into consistent, fairly run, and responsible leagues and tournaments reaching a broader base of youth and young adults featuring baseball and softball activities promoting healthy lifestyle choices and positive self-imageNo arbitrary distinction or discrimination due to a potential player’s gender, race, color, religion, national origin, or disability shall be inferred or permitted.  

Guam is located in the Western Pacific Ocean and is the largest island in the region of the Marianas and Micronesian Islands.  Guam commonly participates against countries such as the Philippines, Saipan, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong just to name a few.  Baseball has long been Guam’s favorite pastime with youth and adult leagues run year round.    

Guam Amatuer Baseball/Guam Baseball Academy was founded in February 2012 and is a registered non-profit organization with all proceeds contributed toward the continued development of baseball and softball including community outreach programs, youth academy programs, adopt-a-field programs and developmental leagues/tournaments for the local community and region.   GABA has organized more than 25 leagues, tournaments, academies and clinics for youth and adults and has worked in partnership with Guam Visitors Bureau, Guam Department of Education, Department of Health and Wellness and many Mayors’ Offices to help organize these events.  

Guam Baseball Academy

GABA develops Camps, Clinics and Showcases for the youth 18 and under.  BASES after school program, summer camps, Xmas camps, Saturday Morning Clinics, Personal Training are just some of the programs GBA has developed for the local baseball community.  GBA also organizes camps for off island groups who want to come to Guam for training or tournaments.

Youth Leagues

In 2016 GABA started the local PONY program with an 18U Palomino and 12U Bronco division to start the program.  GABA also manages the Guam Department of Education Middle School Baseball League and provides officials for the High School Baseball League.

PEACE Partner

GABA is a partner with the PEACE Pillars For Success Program in collaboration with Department of Public Health and is dedicated to educating youths and adults on the risks and consequences of tobacco, drug and alcohol and creating initiatives for children to bond, develop confidence, stay focused on their future and “avoid the negativity” that can be a part of growing up.  GABA emphasizes the importance of a drug-free, alcohol-free and tobacco-free lifestyle, healthy competition and promoting a positive self-image amongst youth and young adults.

International Tournaments

In 2014 GABA started the Western Pacific Series to help enhance relationships through friendly, higher level competition from teams in the region.  In 2015 GABA hosted the Philippines Habagat team for the WPS16U Friendly and in 2014 GABA hosted two international tournaments including the WPS14U with Belau and the WPS18U with Hong Kong.    

GABA Umpire Association

Since 2014 GABA has also provided umpires including training and scheduling for High School Boy’s Baseball and Girl’s FastPitch Softball Leagues on Guam.  Including youth and adult baseball and fast pitch softball leagues and tournaments GABA provided umpires for over 400 games in 2015.

Guam Baseball Academy Field Complex

GABA is currently developing and maintaining the two field complex which includes a 400 ft diamond and 250 ft diamond and is home to Guam PONY Baseball and Softball.  The fields boast excellent lighting for night use and through facility improvements and continuous field maintenance the academy fields are the best on Guam!  In January 2016 the Japanese professional team the Yomiuri Giants selected the academy field complex as their private preseason training facility.

GABA Vision includes:

  • Guam Baseball Academy- community outreach and skills development by organizing more skills assessment showcases, instructional clinics and training camps for youth age groups.
  • Reach a broader base of youth and young adults featuring baseball/softball activities to raise awareness about positive, healthy lifestyle choices and creating a positive self-image.
  • Further development of the “Adopt-A-Field” Program partnering with local businesses and Mayors Offices to develop and improve playing fields.
  • Local and Western Pacific regional events for friendly competitive development of baseball and softball.
