Day 6 Game Recap of the 2024 Printscape Pony League World Seires

GAME 19 (CHAMPIONSHIP): TIJUANA, MEXICO 1 vs. GUAYNABO, PUERTO RICO 2



Guaynabo, Puerto Rico took Wednesday's game in dramatic fashion, with a 2-1 walk-off victory over Tijuana, Mexico. The game was tied at one in the bottom of the ninth when Jehiel Hernandez singled, scoring one run.

Both teams were strong on the bump. Guaynabo, Puerto Rico pitchers struck out four, while Tijuana, Mexico sat down 14.

A solo home run to center field by Dareil Carrion put Guaynabo, Puerto Rico on the board in the bottom of the fourth.

Marlon Melendrez Jr. homered to left field, which helped Tijuana, Mexico tie the game at one in the top of the fifth.

Gean Figueroa stepped on the hill first for Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The pitcher gave up three hits and one run over five innings, striking out three and walking none. Alexander Jimenez led things off on the mound for Tijuana, Mexico. The pitcher allowed three hits and one run over four innings, striking out nine and walking one. Akillis Rivera tossed four innings of no-run ball for Guaynabo, Puerto Rico in relief. The pitcher allowed three hits, striking out one and walking none.

Hernandez and Carrion were a one-two punch in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Carrion led Guaynabo, Puerto Rico with two hits in four at bats.

Melendrez Jr. went 1-for-4 at the plate and led the team with one run batted in. Leadoff hitter Bryan Espinoza led Tijuana, Mexico with two hits in four at bats. Tijuana, Mexico turned one double play in the game.
