Day 4 Game Recaps of the 2024 Printscape Pony League World Series

GAME NINE: MON VALLEY, PA 4 vs. PALMVIEW, TX 11

Mon Valley, PA couldn't keep up with Palmview, TX and fell 11-4 on Monday.

A single by Alejandro Leon put Palmview, TX on the board in the bottom of the first.

Kennedy Nash singled, which helped Mon Valley, PA tie the game at one in the top of the second.

 In the bottom of the second, Palmview, TX broke up the tie when Edgar Quintanilla doubled, scoring two runs. Then a single by Gael Zambrano followed to extend the lead to 4-1.

Palmview, TX added one run in the third. Axel Pulido hit a sacrifice fly, making the score 5-2.

Aj Watson opened the game for Mon Valley, PA. The starting pitcher gave up five hits and five runs over three innings, striking out four and walking two. Ezra Gonzalez stepped on the hill first for Palmview, TX. They allowed five hits and two runs (one earned) over two and one-third innings, striking out one and walking one.

Demaris Tolliver led Mon Valley, PA with two runs batted in from the number seven spot in the lineup. The left fielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Nash went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Mon Valley, PA in hits.

Palmview, TX amassed 14 hits in the game. Zambrano went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Palmview, TX in hits. Alex Bocanegra and Quintanilla each collected multiple hits for Palmview, TX. Palmview, TX turned two double plays in the game.

Palmview, TX will play Tainan City, Chinese Taipei in Game Thirteen on Tuesday, August 13, at 10:00 am. Mon Valley, PA has been eliminated from the 2024 Printscape Pony League World Series. They finished with a record of 1-2. 

GAME TEN: BAY COUNTY, MI 0 vs. WASHINGTON COUNTY, PA 7 

Washington County, PA easily dispatched Bay County, MI on Monday, 7-0.

Washington County, PA were the first to get on the board in the third when Owen Samogala doubled, scoring two runs.

William Flaherty led things off on the mound for Washington County, PA. They surrendered four hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out seven and walking none. Kyle Howard Jr started on the bump for Bay County, MI. They gave up eight hits and six runs over five and one-third innings, striking out three and walking two. Tristin Coney tossed one inning of no-run ball for Washington County, PA in relief. The right-handed pitcher allowed one hit, striking out two and walking none.

Washington County, PA piled up 10 hits in the game. Samogala provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Washington County, PA with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 2-for-3 on the day. Garrett Stoy and Samogala each collected two hits for Washington County, PA. Washington County, PA were sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Tim Crayton made the most plays with nine.

Alex Davenport, Howard Jr, Mason Krager, Tyson Cwiklinski, and Hugh Ruff each collected one hit for Bay County, MI.

Washington County, PA will play Bronx, NY in Game Fourteen on Tuesday, August 13, at 12:30 pm. Bay County, MI has been eliminated from the Printscape Pony League World Series. They finished with a record of 1-2. 

GAME ELEVEN: GUAYNABO, PUERTO RICO 1 vs. TAINAN CITY, CHINESE TAIPEI 0

Both teams were strong on the mound on Monday, but Guaynabo, Puerto Rico defeated Tainan City, Chinese Taipei 1-0. Sebastian Quiles started the game for Guaynabo, Puerto Rico and recorded 21 outs.

Guaynabo, Puerto Rico got on the board in the fourth inning after Abdamil Robles singled, scoring one run.

Quiles started the game for Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The right-handed pitcher surrendered two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking two. Lin Liang-Kai led things off on the mound for Tainan City, Chinese Taipei. They surrendered one hit and zero runs over one and one-third innings, striking out none and walking one.

Robles went 1-for-3 at the plate as the center fielder led the team with one run batted in. Jehiel Hernandez, Adrian Asencio, Quiles, Robles, and Derek Vazquez each collected one hit for Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Asencio, Robles, and Vazquez each stole multiple bases for Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. Guaynabo, Puerto Rico ran wild on the base paths, accumulating eight stolen bases for the game.

Chin Wei-Hsiang and Chen Ching-Jung each collected one hit for Tainan City, Chinese Taipei. Tainan City, Chinese Taipei were sure-handed in the field and didn't commit a single error. Chen Chin-Fu had the most chances in the field with 10.

Guaynabo, Puerto Rico will play the winner of Game Thirteen on Tuesday, August 13 at 4:30pm. Tainan City, Chinese Taipei will play Palmview, TX in Game Thirteen on Tuesday, August 13, at 10:00am. 

GAME TWELVE: TIJUANA, MEXICO 16 vs. BRONX, NY 2

Moyses Salido struck out 12 batters as they led Tijuana, Mexico past Bronx, NY 16-2 on Monday. Salido surrendered two hits and two runs over five innings while walking two.

Tijuana, Mexico scored 12 runs in the fourth inning on the way to victory.  Marlon Melendrez Jr. hit a solo home run to left field, Bryan Espinoza singled, scoring one run, Carlos Pardo singled, scoring one run, Xavier Beltran doubled, scoring two runs, Romeo Briones homered to right field, scoring two runs, Alexander Jimenez singled, scoring one run, Espinoza singled, scoring one run, Pardo was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Beltran drew a walk, scoring one run, and Oliver Gutierrez drew a walk, scoring one run.

Bronx, NY opened the scoring in the first after Jeremy Puello doubled, scoring one run.

Tijuana, Mexico captured the lead, 2-1, in the top of the second after Salido singled, and Espinoza singled, each scoring one run.

Angel Garcia scored after tagging up, which helped Bronx, NY tie the game at two in the bottom of the third.

Puello took the loss for Bronx, NY. The starting pitcher went three and one-third innings, surrendering nine runs (eight earned) on nine hits, striking out four and walking two.

Tijuana, Mexico amassed 13 hits in the game. Beltran drove the middle of the lineup, leading Tijuana, Mexico with three runs batted in. The number three hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Espinoza and Salido each collected three hits for Tijuana, Mexico. Pardo and Melendrez Jr. each collected multiple hits for Tijuana, Mexico. Tijuana, Mexico had patience at the plate, accumulating eight walks for the game. Briones and Beltran led the team with two free passes each.

Puello and Fausto Dominguez were tough to handle back-to-back in the lineup, as each drove in one run for Bronx, NY. Garcia and Puello each collected one hit for Bronx, NY.

Tijuana, Mexico will play the winner of Game Fourteen on Tuesday, August 13 at 7:30pm. Bronx, NY will play Washington County, PA in Game Fourteen on Tuesday, August 13 at 12:30pm.
